Artist's Comments
This is my winning entry for the 2007 National Youth Week talent competition in the Design IT Senior Category. NYW is an Organisation which encourages and celebrates the creativity of young Australians, allowing them to express themselves through music, literature, film, graphic arts and photography. Each category has an assigned theme which the submitted piece must relate to, this year's theme was "Changing the world starts with me" The piece could, although did not necessarily have to feature these words. Submission requirements also included a 100 word description of your design (featured below), explaining intentions and reasons for chosen subject matter:
My design represents initiation and an invitation to protest. Changing the world starts with me is a bold, proud and powerful statement. Its noble, a personal reality-check regarding situations requiring global concernment. It holds optimism as if to speak disapprovingly yet lovingly of a world that is in need of redemption. The baby represents new beginnings of nurture and care. The fate of the world literally hangs in the balance as it rests softly overhead. The child places hand to heart in a pledge or promise to make their world a better place while inviting others to do the same. Never let anyone bring you down. Never think your life's not worth it. Never turn to suicide. Never turn to depression. Never harm yourself in anyway. Never give in.
Keep standing, keep fighting the good fight no matter what.
Keep yourself alive
yeah these things take time I guess.
DA is freakin' enormous.
Plus I'm an Aussie and upload things when half the globe is dreaming.
